Boarding pass to the moon

If you didn’t know, NASA is sending Artemis II to orbit the moon in early February. Like most missions, they’re sending a kit of artifacts along with the crew and cargo, including an SD card with a file containing the names of people around the world who signed up with NASA.

It’s a refreshingly simple form. It asks for a first name, last name, and 4 to 7 digit PIN. There’s no disintermediation of the experience by a third party contractor, no newsletter, or subscription required. It’s an invitation to participate in and educate yourself about a landmark government science project. Nothing more.
